Top Tips to Prepare Your Home for Fall
October 18, 2022
As soon as the fall season rolls around, our thoughts tend to shift toward which pumpkin patches we plan to visit and what fall festivals we’ll be adding to our calendar. Before we inevitably lose ourselves in the spirit of the season, though, it’s crucial to take the time to get our homes ready as well, and we don’t just mean the decorations. At Logan Homes, we build well-crafted homes within highly sought-after neighborhoods throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, so if you’ve just purchased your new construction home with our incredible team, there are a few things on this list that you won’t need to worry about this year. If you’ve owned your home for a few years, however—read on to see a few of our top tips for preparing your home for fall.
Keep up with your home exterior
Even with a new construction home, as a homeowner, there is still a maintenance checklist to keep up with throughout the fall season. For one, your gutters will always need to be cleaned regularly during these next few months. Grab a ladder and recruit a spotter as you make your way around your house clearing out your gutters of any leaves and twigs that have begun to pile up. While it isn’t the most fun activity you could be spending your time doing, it is necessary to keep up with to ensure that you don’t encounter major drainage problems down the road.
On the topic of keeping up with outdoor work, it’s also important to continue to rake the leaves in your yard throughout the season as leaving them can harm the growth and health of your grass in the spring.
Interior check-list
If you’ve just moved into your new construction Logan home, the interior is already primed and ready to take on the fall and winter seasons, but it’s never too early to start focusing on preventative maintenance. When it comes to keeping your home and your loved ones safe, there are a few items that you’ll always want to ensure are in perfect working condition. First up is your HVAC system. Simply by giving it a visual inspection, you’ll be able to see if there are any noticeable damnages. If there are, it’s best to bring in a licensed professional to come take a look. If everything looks good, however, give the area a quick clean and replace the filter if necessary. Next up, it’s important to check all of the carbon monoxide and smoke detectors in your home. Typically, it’s suggested to replace the batteries in all of these detectors every six months—so once you finish your routine check, make a note to do it again in another 6 months.
Put your trust in a team that cares
Investing your time and money into a new construction home, especially a home built with the quality-craftsmanship that our team at Logan Homes always ensures, you are setting yourself up for success in the future.
