June 2019 Events in Greater Wilmington, NC

May 20, 2019

There’s always something fun and memorable happening in Wilmington, and the month of June is no exception. Whether it’s a concert, festival, or finding one of our favorite local spots, splash into summer with these remarkable events happening in June.

To kick off your summer, join us on the Southeastern NC Coast for the Carolina Beach Music Festival on June 1st. Starting at 11am until 4:30pm, this festival is your chance to enjoy a day of live music while relaxing with your toes in the sand. How often can you do both of those at the same time? Come out to join the fun! You can find more information regarding the festival on the Wilmington and Beaches website

Wilmington offers several concert options this June, including the Airlie Gardens Summer Concert Series, and the Downtown Sundown Concert Series.

Airlie Gardens provides Wilmington with many seasonal traditions including a winter tradition of a famous holiday light tour called Enchanted Airlie. However, summertime is when you can go enjoy a series of concerts while also taking in the garden’s beauty. Concerts began May 17th and occur every first and third Friday all summer long. You can purchase tickets and get more information on the Airlie Gardens website.

Historic downtown Wilmington has their own entertainment to offer you, with their Downtown Sundown Concert Series. These free concerts are family friendly - so bring the whole family, grab some Kilwins ice cream, and enjoy a different headliner every week, featuring local performers and tribute bands (playing top hits from bands like, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, and Zac Brown Band). You can see the schedule of performances on the Wilmington Downtown website.

Also located in Historic Downtown Wilmington is the annual Cape Fear Independent Film Festival. This will take place on June 6th at Ironclad Brewery, as well as on June 7th & 8th at the Community Arts Center. This festival is a celebration of independent films and presents all levels of film ranging from local to national. If you are a film and media lover, come check out what this festival has to offer, and even take a stroll through Wilmington’s Historic downtown while you’re at it and embrace the history and culture.

You do not want to miss checking out one of the Wilmington area's most famous locally owned donut shop this June! Located on the Carolina Beach boardwalk, Britt’s Donuts has become one of Wilmington’s most popular spots, attracting people from all over. Britt’s is celebrating their 80th year in business, so check them out in June while they’re open seasonally for the spring and summer!
