June Food Days in the Lowcountry of SC

May 18, 2019

June has so many National Food days that we decided to share a few of the wonderful places in the Lowcountry that you can enjoy so many different types of food! Some of the best memories can be made when sharing an ice cream cone with your best friend or spouse, or strolling through a farmer’s market trying to find the groceries for the week, or inspiration for a home cooked meal.  We know we have enjoyed some of these places so we hope you enjoy them, too!

National Chocolate Ice Cream Day could easily be described as one of the best holidays of the whole month!  This cool holiday occurs on June 7th and what better place to celebrate it than at Jack Frost Ice Cream.  This one-of-a-kind ice cream parlor opened in 2006 and business has been nothing short of sweet.  With reviews that read; “This creamery executes a wide variety of choices with excellent flavor profiles, above average creaminess, and serves them up in good quantity at a solid price,” you surely will be able to find some of the best chocolate ice cream in town.

Keeping with the sweetness trend, our next holiday is National Jelly Filled Donut Day.  On June 8th you can indulge in all of your donut cravings, and you can do so at Duck Donuts.  They have so many flavors, the only issue you might have with this holiday is being able to choose which donut you want!  You can choose from unique combinations like Cinnamon Sugar and Key Lime Drizzle to combinations that you can create!  All donuts are made-to-order and are worth the wait!

The next holiday is one so big it has to be celebrated the entire month of June, National Fruit and Vegetables Month!  With the weather heating up, many farmer’s markets are all in full swing.Come and check out all of the locally grown produce at farmers markets all over the Lowcountry. We suggest starting with the Hilton Head Farmers Market, Port Royal Farmers Market, Bluffton Farmers Market, and the Farmers Markets of Beaufort.  If you can’t make it to the farmer’s markets, there are plenty of local eateries in the Beaufort and Bluffton area that use those same local farms to get their fresh produce from. One of our favorites in Beaufort is the restaurant Plum’s.  This restaurant has been around for a few decades, and the locals are always lining up to come get a taste of the fresh ingredients.
